👋 Hey, I’m Romano

I’m a South African-born, globally rooted consultant passionate about helping people and organizations make sense of change, and shape it with intention.

With over a decade of experience, I support communities, teams, and leaders to explore uncertainty, unlock imagination, and design inclusive, future-forward strategies. From co-developing policy at the national level to facilitating grassroots learning labs, my work bridges insight with action, always grounded in equity, curiosity, and care.

My early years in South Africa, during a time of deep transition, shaped my understanding of how power, policy, and possibility intersect. That experience instilled in me a lifelong commitment to equity and a belief that transformational change is not only possible, it’s necessary. Today, I help others imagine compelling futures and build the strategies, skills, and systems to realize them.

Every engagement I take on is more than a project, it’s a partnership to reimagine what’s possible.

🧭 What Drives Me

I’m guided by one powerful question:

“What are we going to do with all these futures?”

This question sits at the heart of how I think, teach, and collaborate.

I believe the future isn’t something we predict - it’s something we co-create. That means helping people access not just trends and tools, but also agency, hope, and the capacity to navigate complexity.

As someone who has walked paths of both exclusion and innovation, I center inclusion and accessibility in everything I design, whether it’s a foresight process, a learning journey, or a strategic intervention. I design spaces where people feel seen, stretched, and supported.

🛠 How I Work

I bring a balance of rigor and play, clarity and curiosity, vision and traction to every project.

My practice lives at the intersection of futures thinking, adult learning, design, and systems change.

Here’s how I work with people and complexity:

🔮 Strategic Foresight
  • Horizon scanning, strategic anticipation, scenario development

  • Making uncertainty useful - not overwhelming

🎨 Design Thinking
  • Human-centered approaches to messy problems

  • Prototyping bold, iterative solutions

  • Empathy-driven innovation

📚 Learning Design & Facilitation
  • Grounded in Adult Learning Theory

  • Accessible, inclusive experiences for diverse learners

  • Generative spaces that spark energy and transformation

🧩 Systems Innovation
  • Mapping complexity and surfacing leverage points

  • Bridging insight with implementation

  • Turning ideas into action

I’ve facilitated over 5,000 hours of workshops and trainings - in-person, hybrid, and virtual - using tools like Miro, Notion, Trello, Moodle, Monday.com and more. I don’t just deliver content; I build the conditions for learning and meaningful change.

When I’m not facilitating strategy sessions or in a Zoom meeting, you’ll probably find me:

  • 🧗‍♂️ On a bouldering wall somewhere, testing my grip and my patience

  • 🏑 Chasing a ball across a field in a game of hockey

  • 🎧 Deep into a podcast on current affairs, politics, or philosophy

  • 🌊 Relaxing on a beach, soaking up some sun

  • ☕️ Drinking an espresso or americano (no milk, no compromise)

  • 🌍 Saying yes to something new - a skill, a city, a flavor

These rituals and rhythms are how I stay connected to curiosity, creativity, and joy. They remind me that play is powerful, learning never stops, that success often exists behind failure, and that the future is always open to experimentation.
